Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring precise and prompt billing for all clients.

This position is focused on achieving departmental objectives related to volume, productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include conducting Medicaid eligibility assessments as necessary for accurate monthly invoicing and generating monthly billing statements.

Key tasks involve creating pre-bills and performing multiple accuracy checks throughout the month.

Composite billing responsibilities encompass reviewing software limitations, correcting errors, submitting claims, resolving rejections, and managing split billing charges as needed.

The specialist will also address rebilled rejected claims and investigate price matching requests while conducting monthly reviews and updates.

Essential duties include gathering and entering relevant Hospice information, including formulary and payer adjudication details.

Customer service responsibilities involve responding to inquiries from facilities, patients, families, and responsible parties, resolving issues through the online portal.

Additionally, the specialist will review census data for payer changes and make necessary updates.

Researching and obtaining documentation for claims requiring BAE is also part of the role.

Identifying and processing third-party and facility/private write-offs is essential.

The position requires reviewing, processing, and maintaining the DocuTrack billing documents queue.

Providing internal customer service by collaborating with and assisting other departments on billing-related matters is crucial.

Lastly, the specialist will review, research, and respond to third-party audits concerning specific billing issues.

Financial Reporting Responsibilities:

Tasks include generating daily, weekly, and monthly reports, reviewing facility short pays, routine billing open batch reviews, processing communications, and conducting census receipt/PPD calculations.

Required Skills:

Expertise in medical billing, healthcare support, customer service, and data entry.

Additional Qualifications:

Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Medical Billing.

Experience managing over 50 customer service calls daily is essential.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, typing proficiency, computer literacy, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines are necessary.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of billing experience in a healthcare setting or 2 years in any billing environment.
  • Recent billing experience within the last 10 years is required.
  • A High School Diploma or Equivalent is necessary.

Work Environment:

  • This position is based in an office environment.
  • Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM.
  • Overtime may be required during peak billing periods.
  • The team consists of 7-8 members.

Experience Level:

This role is classified as Intermediate Level.
