THE ROLE
PlayOn Sports is looking for a Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). You will be a key member of our team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of our company's accounting function. You will play a critical role in financial strategy, reporting, and compliance, guiding the organization towards its financial objectives.
Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role include:
Oversee all accounting operations, including financial reporting, general ledger management, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, providing insights to senior management and stakeholders.
Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and ensure timely completion of financial statements.
Monitor key financial metrics and performance indicators, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management, supporting decision-making and long-term planning initiatives.
Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations, evaluating their impact on the organization and implementing necessary updates.
Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
THE PERSON
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
Proven track record of success in accounting leadership roles, with at least 15 years of experience in a senior accounting position.
Deep understanding of accounting principles and practices, with expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make strategic recommendations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus.
Strong technical accounting skills with a deep understanding of GAAP/IFRS and experience researching and applying accounting standards.
