If you answered “yes” to these questions, this may be the position for you A mission-based organization in the Washington, DC area is seeking a Director of Meetings and Events to join its team. The Director of Meetings and Events manages the planning and execution of various in-person conferences and events, including logistics, vendor relations, contract negotiations and management, budgeting, and sponsor and exhibitor fulfillment. Duties and responsibilities include: Manage all logistical details of conferences and events, including but not limited to BEOs, room set-ups, housing, registration, audio visual production, program management, exhibit management, sponsor fulfillment, vendor management (app, photographer, transportation, etc.); oversee venue and site selection; serve as lead for preplanning and onsite event execution; manage special activities held in conjunction; and evaluate all events, ensuring continual improvement. Manage budgeting process (budget development, budget accuracy, and compliance); oversee billing and invoicing; negotiate favorable contracts with hotels and vendors. Serve as event Project Manager, liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Develop and manage timelines for all aspects of event planning. Collaborate with education team to successfully integrate and implement all agenda and program elements (programming, speaker management, continuing education fulfillment). ManageMeetingsManagerandcollaboratewithinternalstaffwhennecessary. Qualified candidates will have: In-depth knowledge of event management principles and practices. 5 to 7 years of experience in a senior events or meetings role. Experience managing events of various sizes (25-person board meetings to 1,000+ person conferences with exhibits). Budget management (planning, tracking, projections) experience. Exceptional project management, planning, communication, problem solving, crisis management, and decision making skills. Ability to multi-task, stay organized, and work with competing deadlines. Ability to work autonomously, engage stakeholders, and lead project teams.
