Responsibilities * Manage the activities of the purchasing department by purchasing supplies and materials at the optimal price and delivery cycle while maintaining lowest possible inventory levels. * Oversee the day to day purchasing operations, centralizing purchasing between locations. Maintain accurate tracking of freight/shipping schedules. * Develop and implement purchasing and inventory control procedures and sequence of operations within the department to optimize cost-effective inventory level. * Develop purchasing strategies to ensure we have just enough product in-house ready to be shipped, without having excess inventory levels. Ensure inventory values are in line with current/future opportunity needs. * Use data (market, price, delivery conditions, and trends) to determine present and future material availability and needs, creating a just-in-time model for forecasting and subsequent purchasing. * Oversee removal of surplus material or obsolete products, accurately recording inventory reductions and notifying accounting of the change. * Review weekly inventory trends and discusses variations with the appropriate team member. Work side-by-side with the warehouse teams to minimize inventory discrepancies, as well as physical counts and cycle counts. * Approve and submit invoices to accounting to process payment within agreed upon terms. Forwarding invoices to the appropriate party if needed. Communicate with vendors if corrections need to be made. * Request, review and evaluate vendor quotes to provide the company with strategic savings. * Ensure exceptional customer service is being delivered. Respond to and resolve customer inquiries in a courteous and timely manner. Requirements * Good written and verbal communication skills. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills * Experience forecasting, scheduling and negotiating. * Strong supplier and vendor relations. * Excellent customer service skills * Ability to defuse issues using de-escalation and problem-solving techniques * Ability to supervisor employees in multiple locations. * Ability to work independently and balance workload and prioritize in a fast-paced environment to meet predetermined deadlines. * Adequate knowledge of warehouse data system * Advanced computer knowledge (word, excel) Location
