Job Description

Michael Baker International has an exciting opportunity for a Traffic Engineer with 5 - 15 years of traffic engineering experience to join our New England operation. The Traffic Engineer will provide services for a variety of transportation infrastructure projects including traffic analysis and modeling and traffic engineering design. As a Traffic Engineer, you will be responsible to develop and maintain relationships with local, statewide, and regional clients. You will leverage your engineering knowledge and skills to assist in the preparation of concept and final design engineering plans, calculations, analysis, modeling, reports, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates and schedules. MBI offers a hybrid/flexible working arrangement with offices in Waltham, MA, Providence, RI & Rocky Hill, CT.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with field inventory for traffic analysis and design, traffic data collection programs, traffic analysis and studies, technical reports, traffic modeling and simulation, traffic demand forecast and models, transportation management plan and traffic engineering design including traffic signal layout and timing, intersection design, pavement markings and striping, signing and traffic control plans and the preparation of quantity calculations and construction cost estimates.
  • Work closely with senior traffic engineers to complete design and/or analysis of roadways, bicycle, and pedestrian facilities and other transportation infrastructure.
  • Instruct, guide and mentor junior engineers in the development of engineering design, reports and analyses.
  • Assist with the preparation of design plans, traffic analysis, design calculations and technical reports for transportation infrastructure projects for a variety of local, regional, state, and national clients.
  • Ability to interact with coworkers at local and regional level and clients at different levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to efficiently work independently within a multi-disciplinary team and prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines.
  • This position will support projects and proposals for regional and local clients and will ensure QA/QC practices for traffic work in the region.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Traffic Engineer: 5 -10 years of traffic analysis and/or design experience.
  • Senior Engineer: 10 -15 years of traffic analysis and/or design experience.
  • P.E. license in CT, MA or RI.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification is desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and traffic analysis software such as HCS and Synchro SimTraffic. Experience with VISSIM is highly desirable.
  • Experience with MassDOT, RIDOT, or CTDOT and federal traffic engineering design and analysis guidelines, manuals, and standards.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for Traffic Engineer is $90k to $115k & Senior Traffic Engineer is $115k- $130k. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
