Tokyo Central is excited to announce that we are going to be opening a new store in the Torrance location. We are very excited in interviewing these leaders and request that you bring the following to the table:
- Proven experience as a butcher or in meat cutting within a grocery store, retail, or meat production setting.

- Good knowledge of perishable foods, particularly meat.
- To always have a positive attitude and to work well in a team environment. We want our associates can be the strong foundation of the department, make the tasks done, and ensure customers have excellent shopping experience with your friendly attitude and nicely displayed food.

- To approach every situation with a YES attitude. Have or be willing to learn how to have the necessary confidence, commitment, and work together with team.
- The Key personality and characteristics that we require our store associates to have in order for them to accomplish their goals are the following: Punctuality, Attentiveness, Humbleness, Supportive, Great Sense of Humor, Good Listening Skills, Consistent, Progressive, and Proactive.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES in Meat Department (Meat Clerk) (responsibilities include, but are not limited to):

•Stocking and unpacking Meat

•Setting up and maintaining the condition of the Meat Department according to company standards

•Ensures Meat is handled, stocked, rotated and merchandised

•Checks product area temperature to ensure freshness and quality

•Processing and/or wrapping Meat items prior to filling designated areas

•Cutting, labeling, and wrapping Meat

•Operating pallet jack, scissor lift, baler, compactor and scrub machine

•Maintaining cleanliness of the store/ store upkeep

•Must clean and sanitize work areas

•Work Environment will be in extreme temperature

Customer Service:

•Providing premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to questions

•Engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques

•Meets or exceeds Department's sales goals assigned through the efficient execution of Company policies and procedures

•Maintains cleanliness of work area, storage area, and selling floor

•Ensures a safe and clean work environment

•Cross Training.

•Store Support Associates exemplify teamwork and are open to and willing to be trained and step in when needed in all departments and similar skilled areas for filling and development opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•High School Diploma or GED equivalent

•Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, use ladders, scaffolds or their substitutes, substitutes above 6 feet in height, and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment.

•Must be able to use job related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper

•No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred

•Previous experience as a Butcher or Meat Cutter is preferred

•Possess a CA Food Handling license or the ability to acquire one

•Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without aid

•Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Hands are in frequent contact with water, vegetables, and meat while performing job duties.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to use job related equipment such as slicer, scale, saw, knife and wrapper
  • No experience required, but a minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment is preferred
  • Previous experience as a Line Cook, Prep Cook, or Deli Clerk experience is preferred
  • Possess a CA Food Handling license or the ability to acquire one
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without aid
  • Exposure to potential hazards exists with respect to equipment and work aides necessary to perform job duties. Hands are in frequent contact with water, vegetables, deli, and sushi meat while performing job duties.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Comfortable with working in a kitchen environment
  • Must be able to follow recipes and accurately measure ingredients
  • Must be able to operate related equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks and hand trucks
    Able to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
  • Able to read, write, and do simple math problems
  • Able to interpret, understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Has or willing to obtain a CA Food Handler's Certificate
