You will enable the product teams to adopt the concept of fail fast and often. You will get an opportunity to help the teams focus on the end-to-end delivery of their products to the clients in an automated fashion. You will create, evolve, scale, integrate, fortify, and automate core services to solve unique and constantly iterating engineering challenges that can be applied to products which are developed in-house or SaaS products.

Our industry, now more than ever, is built upon the principles of rapid innovation, agile development and testing, continuous deployment, and ultimately faster time to market for applications. The DevSecOps team at Vanguard is a core driver of these principles. The team is searching for a senior engineer with proven experience in owning projects, identifying, and leading implementation of new technology, developing standards, and mentoring team members. DevSecOps is central to the entire department's operations, and as such, the successful candidate will have input to technology and implementation decisions across the organization.

In this role, you will:

  • Build automation for routine, simple, and complex tasks.
  • Design, build and maintain continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines with embedded security testing to effectively secure and deploy cloud-based (Azure or AWS) workloads.
  • Design infrastructure and implement automation using infrastructure-as-code solutions.
  • Write automation scripts following best-practice coding principles.
  • Provide technical leadership in the architecture/design, development, and implementation of automated testing tools for multiple products and services delivered as part of human services platform using state-of-the-art frameworks and tools.
  • Lead improving the infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance of software components are upheld.
  • Work with peer software engineers to design resilient, scalable, and robust cloud services.
  • Work with developers to establish NoOps culture, empowering developers with next-generation self-service options.
  • Learn, extend, and maintain our build, deploy, config, metrics, and alerting systems.
  • Learn and understand client area business functions and requirements. Provide thought leadership and develop technical standards to serve Vanguard technical needs. Determine the appropriate technical tool to address the client's business needs.
  • Maintain an understanding of and industry capabilities and opportunities while acting as a thought leader and identifying, developing, and driving adoption of forward-leaning capabilities enabling SRE adoption and the delivery of ultra-reliable solutions.
  • Implement systems that are available, scalable, and self-healing on Vanguard data centers and on AWS.
  • Improve overall observability by implementing monitoring, metrics, logs, and Service Level Objectives (SLO)
  • Effectively manage troubleshooting and recovery of complex production incidents, ranging from low to critical impacts
  • Drive incident resolution through a systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive.
  • Actively participate in teams' Agile stories (project work) to streamline and enhance day to day operations of the team.
  • Proactively monitor all the applications and infrastructure behind Marketing Technology external and internal customer-facing services, including their availability, latency, performance, and capacity
  • Influence resiliency and scalability in production environments in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Identify opportunities and develop AIOps telemetry for applications - proactive, automated monitoring,
  • Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

What it Takes
  • Minimum of five years related experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong coding, cloud, and automation experience - AWS, Java, JavaScript, Python, Azure, automation frameworks - UiPath, Robot Framework, TDD, Junit
  • Exceptional ability to process and synthesize information to deliver optimal solutions and identify roadblocks.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • AWS and/or Azure Professional level certification (Solutions Architect, DevOps, SysOps, Administrator, or Developer)
