Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for the manufacturing quality and performance of all products fabricated at VJ Electronix, including, Rework and X-Ray Systems. This position will report to the Engineering Supervisor build a strong relationship with critical sub-tier suppliers while working closely with internal engineering and operation teams. The ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional communication and project management skills along with a strong background in engineering and quality. This individual must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and be willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced organization.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide exceptional production support on people, processes, materials, and equipment to achieve operational goals (safety, quality, service, and productivity)
  • Create detailed Work Instructions and Quality Control Procedures
  • Liaise between suppliers and internal teams to address priorities and resolve issues to achieve production requirements
  • Work cross-functionally with Production, Supply Chain, Sales/Marketing, and Service teams to ensure success throughout product life cycle
  • Lead and coordinate continuous improvement projects to reduce errors, increase productivity and drive improvement culture
  • Drive accountability with internal and external stakeholders on project deliverables
  • Lead Kaizen events, CAPA resolution, and create value stream maps for key processes
  • Identify DFM opportunities, mitigate project/products risks, and perform cost/benefit analysis
Essential Skills:
  • Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering)
  • 2-5 years related product-based electromechanical experience
  • Passion for manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Experience working and communicating with contract manufacturers and suppliers
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, 3D modelling of tooling and fixtures, interpretation of detailed engineering drawings, and GD&T
  • Experience with change control systems (EPDM, ERP systems), and Bills of Materials
  • Skills to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production assembly/test problems
  • Ability to direct time studies to create baselines and identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost savings
  • Experience with production best practices such as LEAN, Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma
  • Skilled at generating labor standards for complex assembly processes
  • Skilled at working directly with manufacturing personnel as well as working with technical counterparts
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills - can convey complex technical topics in simple terms across internal departments and external partners
  • Extremely motivated and organized individual who can be self-directed in both team-based and individual settings
  • Experienced in new product launch and adherence to project plans for deliverables
  • Computer proficiency within MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and PowerPoint)
Non-Essential Skills
  • Electro-mechanical assembly and testing experience
  • Optimize production schedule to achieve monthly plan
  • Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or Smartsheet experience a plus
  • Experience in developing and utilizing product configuration management systems
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to frequently communicate and exchange information in a team environment.
  • Must be able to constantly operate standard office and industrial equipment.
  • Must be able to frequently operate hand and power tools
  • Must be able to occasionally move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to occasionally position self while working on machines, including, but not limited to, underneath and inside machinery.
  • Must be able to frequently work in a stationary position. Must be able to occasionally move about the office.
