We are in search of a tenured civil engineer to join our client on the Big Island. This a locally owned firm that specializes in Civil Engineering and Construction Management that holds a presence island wide.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Management and Coordination: Assist in managing specific civil engineering tasks and performing technical coordination of civil engineering projects.
  • Design and Development: Prepare large or complex designs, studies, and other project-related tasks. Perform tasks including preparation of designs, plans, specifications, estimates, studies, calculations, and other necessary tasks.
  • Client and Agency Relations: Assist in the development and maintenance of client and agency relations.
  • Supervision and Leadership: Supervise and direct the work of Design Engineers, Junior Engineers, Engineering Aides, Draftspersons, and Clerical staff as assigned. Provide positive leadership, guide staff career advancement, and educate less experienced staff on engineering techniques and practices.
  • Quality Assurance: Review work products to ensure technical quality and adherence to project objectives and schedules.
  • Project Management: Understand project objectives and schedules to meet project requirements. Plan and organize work to maintain productivity and profitability.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with clients, agencies, and subconsultants with limited supervision. Work collaboratively with others on project assignments and company functions.
  • Field Work: Perform field work as required for project tasks.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is highly desirable and may be required depending on the specific role and location.
Skills Requirements:
  • Proficiency in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation, and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and standards related to civil engineering projects.
  • Experience with preparation of designs, plans, specifications, estimates, studies, and calculations.
