DoD SkillBridge Internship: Project Manager/IT System Specialist
SkillBridge Provider: Vets2PM LLC
Location: Tyndall AFB (Panama City), FL

Applicants must be active-duty U.S. Military Members who qualify for the DoD SkillBridge Program. We are seeking an intern who can start this SkillBridge internship as close to 01 October 2024 as possible.

About the Industry:

Ensuring mission readiness by protecting critical infrastructure. Mission critical facilities depend on utilities, life safety, security, and building automation control systems to maintain readiness 24/7/365. This internship helps protect critical infrastructure from cyber attacks and unlocks previously siloed information to monitor, diagnose, and respond faster to events in real-time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage multiple concurrent interrelated or independent projects
  • Work directly with internal and external stakeholders to gather information that is needed to define projects
  • Employ a pragmatic approach to balancing deadlines, budgets, features, and capacity
  • Track underway tasks and projects to completion, including any tasks assigned to subcontractors
  • Identify prioritization and staffing constraints and work with the leadership team on timely resolution
  • Identify and manage risk for projects and initiatives
  • Responds to support incidents to resolve either customer problems or cyber-physical infrastructure outage problems
  • Identifies and resolves issues related to support incidents
  • Communicates status and resolution with customer through the lifecycle of a support incident
  • Identifies methods to reduce overall O&M burden through automation and triage
  • Tracks resolution progress through a task management software
  • Infrastructure hardware provisioning and installation
  • Tracks Hardware Assets
  • Operates with operational security best practices
Qualifications:
A successful applicant will have the following skills and experience
  • T-shaped person (experience in many things, depth in a handful). Depth in one or more of the following is important:
  • Subcontract project management
  • Software development or management
  • Cybersecurity and outage monitoring and associated incident response
  • NOC/SOC day-to-day support and operations
  • Continuous improvement to identify, plan, execute and review updates to optimize processes and procedures
  • Ability to Manage and translate between traditional waterfall and agile models
  • Familiarity with the Tyndall Air Force Base mission
  • Aptitude for learning new technologies and integrated systems
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following technologies: Windows, Linux, Cisco, AWS Cloud Watch, and AWS Systems Manager
  • Experience working within a Tier 1 / Tier 2 troubleshooting environment, escalating to Simplesense engineering or ICS expertise when necessary
  • Candidates should have a balance of troubleshooting and customer trouble ticket resolution relationship experience
  • Strong documentation and communication abilities

  • Supporting critical infrastructure networks
  • Supporting industrial control systems
  • Maintaining DoD or US government network environments
  • Interest and ability to adapt to new tools and technologies
  • Working in a fast-paced small company or startup environment

  • Mentorship and guidance via regular SkillBridge Intern Zoom Meetings.
  • Free PM Fundamentals course, Resume writing, LinkedIn optimization, and interview skills course.
  • Other free resources, including an electronic copy of 'How to Speak Civilian Fluently'.


Other:

Not all internships include certification training by Vets2PM, as many host companies include their own internship-focused training instead. If selected for an internship with Vets2PM please read your approval email, letter, and training plan to be sure you understand what is included in your internship.
