Basic Job Functions:

The Level 1 Automation Engineer provides support to the steel making process by working closely with Operations and Maintenance teammates to safely troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and upgrade electrical and automation equipment. A successful candidate in this role will demonstrate the core values of the Nucor Big 11 success factors while focusing on safety, equipment reliability, cost control, and continuous improvement. This position requires scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 3 to 5 years of industrial process automation experience with applicable degree or equivalent industrial process automation experience without applicable degree.
  2. Hands-on experience with PLC technologies and ladder logic.
  3. Hands-on experience with HMI technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Four year Automation, Electrical or equivalent Engineering Degree or equivalent work experience in automation and controls.
  2. Three to five year's industrial automation experience in Rolling, Melting, or Casting.
  3. Drives experience.
  4. Project Management experience with system integration.
  5. Allen Bradley experience.
  6. Wonderware experience.
