Overview:

The Speech Language Pathologist I assesses and treats patients who have speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. This position implements care plans using evidence-based modalities, including patient and family education and skilled interventions to increase patients' ability to achieve mutually established functional goals. This position monitors and evaluates outcomes related to the assessment and plan of care. The Speech Language Pathologist I requires guidance and mentoring for completion of the essential job functions.

Responsibilities:

Assists comprehensive evaluations of patients with speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders to analyze their communication and oral motor skills.
Supports the development and implementation of evidence-based, personalized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patients' goals, and individual needs.
Educates patients and their families on treatment plans, home exercises, and self-management techniques to improve recovery outcomes.
Monitors and documents patients' progress, treatment outcomes, and responses to interventions so that treatment plans can be adjusted as needed.
Collaborates with other in developing and implementing discharge plans and recommendations for continued care and may require some guidance from other team members.
Reports progress and current status to appropriate parties, which may include family members or medical professionals.
Performs other duties as reasonably required or assigned.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Required: Master's degree in Speech Pathology
EXPERIENCE:
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING: Required:
Certificate of Clinical Competence by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or is eligible to receive it through a Clinical Fellowship Year.
Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Speech Pathologists and Audiologists during their Supervised Experience Year.
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
