Our Starting Points location in Berkeley Springs, WV is looking for a part-time (20 hours/week) Community Kitchen Assistant. This position is responsible for assisting with coordination and operation of the Meal Time Community Kitchen. It is an integral element of service delivery within Starting Points.

Role & Responsibilities:
• Perform menu planning in coordination with MTCK Coordinator and volunteer groups.
• Prepare and submit orders for food and other supplies to ensure adequate inventory for efficient project operation as directed by MTCK Coordinator or Starting Points Director.
• Assist with coordinating group and individual volunteer activities to provide meals and adequate staffing for the MTCK.
• Assist with food preparation.
• Assist with managing supplies and in-kind donations to minimize waste and spoilage.
• Solicit and coordinate acceptance of in-kind donations for the MTCK.
• Ensure that the kitchen and storage facilities meet established regulations and applicable safety principles and report any potential deficiencies to the supervisor.
• Actively participate in the development of project services, providing feedback as appropriate and serving as an effective liaison among volunteers, the community, and Starting Points' staff.
• Complete Health Department Food Handlers' class.
• Ensure that all food handling criteria are adhered to by staff and volunteers in compliance with the Health Department or other regulations and criteria.
• Perform other duties to meet Starting Points' goals as requested or assigned.
• Maintain staff and client confidentiality and privacy according to SVMS policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Education: OSHA Category 2
• Valid driver's license and access to transportation
• U.S. Citizenship or work permit
• Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity.
• Basic computer skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently.
• Satisfactory criminal background check, Drug Screening
• Maintain Health Department-issued Food Handlers' certification.
• Ability to lift and carry boxes or supplies up to 20 pounds.
