PURPOSE

Job Description

Technical Outside Sales position responsible for overall sales growth at current accounts and developing new hydraulic hose and connector product customers. The ideal candidate is competitive, enjoys selling, being in front of customers solving technical applications that lead to long-term customer relationships and business growth.

Requirements and Duties:

Self-motivated and driven to win business. Ability to prioritize, plan, great time-management skills and a sense of urgency. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. A hands-on, team player who goes the extra mile to provide exceptional customer service.

  • Determine customer needs, provide technical solutions to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Contacts current and prospective customers to solicit business orders.
  • Recommends products to customers, based upon customers needs and interests.
  • Answers questions about products, prices, and quality, durability, and credit terms.
  • Meets with customers to demonstrate and explain features and benefits of products and services.
  • Prepares lists of prospective customers, call reports, and other reports as required.
  • Reviews sales records and current market information to determine value or sales potential of product.
  • Instructs customers on use of products.
  • Investigates and resolves customer complaints.
  • Prepares drawings, estimates, and bids to meet specific needs to customers.
  • Obtains credit information on prospective customers.
  • Oversees delivery or installation of products to equipment.
  • Achieves high understanding of products, learn about new products.
  • Prepare quotations and proposals, follow up, negotiate terms, and close transactions.
  • Achieve sales and profit goals by developing and retaining existing customers and by opening new business.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Experience should demonstrate proficiencies in the following areas:

  • Successful sales presentation and the ability to close.
  • Ability to influence others to change position or to adapt to a specific point of view.
  • Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to gain acceptance of a product, service, or idea.
  • Ability to take care of the customers needs while following company procedures.
  • Proper listening, oral and written skills and command of the English language.
  • Ability to actively attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others.

Education: High School Graduate or equivalent; degree in industrial distribution or engineering preferred.

Experience: One year of experience with hose and fitting products is preferred.

Compensation:

  • Base salary plus commission
  • Business and mileage expense reimbursement
