DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: Perioperative Support Services provides procedure scheduling, charge capture, staff scheduling and business management for St. Charles Health System Perioperative departments.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Charge Capture Specialist is responsible for correct and complete information of all SCHS Perioperative charges. Responsible for capturing all revenue for materials and services used for patient care. This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Accurately determine the charges for the Perioperative Services departments, transferring data to Information Services and Finance as scheduled.

Review the EMR for accurate charge entry and capture. Monitor accurate and timely charge finalization.

Bill for all Perioperative departments of St. Charles Health System and any other charges that would be utilized from the Perioperative departments.

Work with Clinicians, Charge Auditors, Legal, Compliance, Charge Master, IT, Supply Chain, and Financial Services when needed to ensure accurate billing in unusual or specific instances.

Delivers customer service in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient and accurate.

Supports the vision, mission and values of the organization in all respects.

Supports Value Improvement Practice (VIP- Lean) principles of continuous improvement with energy and enthusiasm, functioning as a champion of change.

Provides and maintains a safe environment for caregivers, patients and guests.

Required: Valid Oregon driver's license and meet St. Charles Health System driving requirements with the ability to travel to all St. Charles Health System campuses

Required: At least two years of clerical experience

Previous experience with and knowledge of: medical, surgical, and procedural terminology

Previous experience with and knowledge of: surgical and procedural supplies

Demonstrated ability and experience in computer applications, use of electronic medical record keeping systems and MS Office
