About the Role

The Patient Access Representative lead will act as a liaison between the Patient Access Rep and staff. To receive all patients in a kind and caring manner and to ensure that the day-to-day operations of the front office are completed.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Make eye contact with and greet all patients & visitors in a kind, enthusiastic, and helpful manner. Ask patients to sign in upon arrival and obtain any information as required. Advise patients of any delay and the time involved. *
  • Assist in the training of new hires.
  • Maintain communication with the clinical area to maintain appropriate patient flow and to update waiting patients.
  • Communicate policy & procedures.
  • Copy, scan, and verify patients' insurance cards & photo id. Verify insurance eligibility and enter insurance information correctly.
  • Verify the current signature on file and obtain an updated signature as needed. *
  • Confirm with the patient regarding the need for a referral. Have the patient contact their PCP if the referral has not arrived. *
  • Verify completion of new patient paperwork and scan into EHR timely
  • Print and distribute a daily patient list at the end of the day and an updated list each morning. *
  • Review Provider office notes & schedule follow-up appointments and medical tests, including imaging tests & labs as needed. *
  • Send a Task to the precertification team for any scheduled procedures or injections.
  • Collect any co-payment, UOI-mandated service fee, and/ or guarantor balance due. Thank the patient for choosing UOI and ask "Is there anything else I can do for you?*
What We Expect from You
  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent
  • Organizational skills training preferred
  • Computer courses preferred
  • Organizational Skills Training preferred
  • 2 years of previous experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • 2-3 years experience working in a business office
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Previous experience with multi-phone lines


Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have thorough knowledge in computer information systems.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
