We are currently seeking applicants for an experienced Maintenance Technician. The Claremont is a full service resort located in beautiful Southwest Harbor. The preferred candidate will have previous experience in a resort environment, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Candidates must have strong attention to detail, be able to organize and direct other staff members, and have working and practical knowledge in various areas, including drywall, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. Requirements: Must be willing and able to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends. General knowledge of machines and basic hand and power tools. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy. Must be able to lift, push, and pull items that weigh up to 50 pounds. 1-3 years of previous hotel maintenance experience preferred. Ability to utilize basic technology including a smartphone and a computer. To continually support and improve engineering services that effectively address problems affecting both guests and associates. Responsibilities: Guest Rooms: Plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing all types of hardware, plumbing, electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners, cosmetic items, replacing electrical switches and outlets, and programming TVs. Public Areas: Plunging toilets, unclogging drains, repairing and/or adjusting all types of hardware, plumbing, electrical, HVAC equipment, and cosmetic items. Fire Alarm/Life Safety System: Monitor systems as necessary, be fully informed of system operation, and handle emergencies involving the systems. Energy Conservation: Observe energy and utilities usage in the hotel and on the grounds, look for ways to conserve energy, and report any ideas to the Engineering Management. Tools: Clean, lubricate, protect, and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel. Emergencies: Be available for emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests and associates and preserve the building and its systems. Accident Prevention and Safety: Be aware of all existing departmental Job Safety Analysis and strive to work in an accident-free manner. Records: Read, log, track, and interpret readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units. Departmental Duties: Clean all engineering areas as directed by Engineering Management. Work in a neat and efficient manner, keeping work areas clean and well organized. Complete all work assigned in a safe and professional manner. Maintain communications with supervisors to ensure that all needed materials, tools, and supplies are available or on order. Provide training and technical advice to other engineers as needed or requested.
