Assembly Coordinator

Headquartered in Coventry Rhode Island, Seaside Casual Furniture manufactures outdoor furniture out of EnviroWood®, an all-weather, low-maintenance, eco-friendly material made from recycled bottles and jugs. As a division of a family-owned and operated business for over 100 years, Seaside Casual has been leading the casual furniture industry with its award-winning design and manufacturing since 1996.

PURPOSE:

The Production Assembly Coordinator is responsible for the training and to assist and make recommendations in the allocation of production resources for each assembly cell to support the daily production plan. In addition to supporting daily production needs, the coordinator must assist with the training and certification of employees to the skill level training targets set by the production supervisor. They will assist in performing first piece inspections and monitor quality throughout the day.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide direct oversight of manufacturing and safety procedures.
  • Assist in the training of new and current employees.
  • Maintain a constant presence and oversight in all production activities.
  • Monitor, review and implement changes to assembly to help improve production and quality.
  • Ensure quality of products through constant monitoring of developed QC procedures.
  • Allocate staff to achieve approved production goals. Including filling in on understaffed cells.
  • Plan, delegate, and control work assignments.
  • Recommend promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist in new product roll out and pre-production process.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Maintain a good attendance record.
  • Provide overtime as needed to meet production goals.
  • Constantly reviewing best practices and recommend any updates or changes.
  • Attend trainings and/or meeting as needed or requested.
  • Give training and directions to Assemblers.
All other duties Perform all other duties as assigned including carrying out responsibilities, performing duties, using skills, and working in conditions necessary to perform all assigned tasks

Qualifications

COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:
  • Perform all functions of Furniture Assembler 2 and/or 3.
  • Organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Lean and 6 sigma experience a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish Speaking a plus.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Some overtime or 2nd shift coverage may be required.
