The Sr R&D Mechatronics Engineer will contribute to the development of new or existing products with a focus on model-based design using Simulink and Simscape, as well as other tools as needed. The candidate is highly proficient with current development tools, practices, processes, and experienced in system testing and integration. The candidate is highly experienced in mechatronics and controls programming, including sensors and actuators, electromechanical system modeling, controls, error/exception classification and handling, reliability test setup programming, EMC/EMI test setup programming, servo-systems modeling, analysis, and implementation. Ideal candidates have designed, implemented, and launched complex electro-mechanical or robotic systems comprised of electronics hardware and real-time control software for a medical robotics technology platform. The candidate must be onsite full-time to work with hardware and team members. Primary Responsibilities: Lead the technical design and development of testing scripts for electromechanical systems within a multidisciplinary team. Utilize best practice implementation in model-based design methodologies, development processes, and tools. Lead/contribute to the definition of system testing requirements, creating design descriptions and specifications, authoring testing protocols, conducting and/or overseeing testing, and issue resolution. Collaborate in system integration, troubleshooting, and updates. Project management responsibilities, which may include internal or external resources, developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets. Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in mechatronics, mechanical, or electrical is required. MSc is highly desired. 6-10 years of experience in the product development role preferred, with at least five years of experience with Simulink Real-Time required; experience with Simscape is desired. Experience developing medical devices is highly desired. Experience with Simulink Unit Test (Test Harnesses) and Hardware in the Loop Testing is required. Experience with real-time application programming and RTOS for products is required. Proficiency with error handling, data logging, and data retrieval within Simulink/Real-time applications is required. Experience with GUI-type applications is preferred. Knowledge of EtherCAT communication preferred. Knowledge of 60601-1 and 60601-1-2 testing and test setup development is desired.
