Capital Markets at Zions has been growing rapidly over the last five years and is a key strategic growth area for the Bank. To ensure that the risk and control infrastructure can support the new levels of business activity, the Bank seeks to enhance its risk team independent of the business' front-line revenue-generating units. The Counterparty Credit & Risk Reporting - Director will be responsible for enhancing the counterparty risk management framework supporting current business activities and prospective strategic growth plans. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for maintaining reporting processes and controls broadly for independent risk management reporting on Capital Markets activities (not limited to counterparty credit). This individual would also be responsible for developing the risks management tools and reporting to meet future regulatory requirements around counterparty risk, including but not limited to the Market Risk Rule (MRR), Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB), and Basel III Endgame counterparty credit risk requirements. They will also be responsible for developing and managing reporting processes needed for Counterparty Credit Risk management for trading exposures, including measurement of the Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVA), and other required capital markets risk reporting. To be successful, the Counterparty Credit & Risk Reporting - Director will partner with both the 1st line business unit executives, e.g. traders and desk quants, and 2nd line risk units, e.g. Compliance, Operational Risk, and Credit, to enhance the existing market risk frameworks supporting the 1st line activities. Responsibilities: Establish and enhance the counterparty credit risk management and control framework over the Bank's Capital Markets. Manage 1-2 staff as the risk reporting framework develops over the next few years. Establish appropriate controls, processes & procedures, and independent risk reporting for the Bank's capital markets risk management activities. Manage counterparty credit risk processes, including measuring and reporting counterparty exposures for covered trading positions. Provide independent assurance to the Bank's leadership team that risks are being prudentially taken and managed. Major responsibilities include the following: Develop and maintain strategy/vision for counterparty credit risk management needed to effectively measure, control, and communicate risk to management. Develop effective risk reporting processes to broadly cover all independent risk reporting for the capital markets business, including but not limited to: counterparty credit, market, and operational risk. Ensure business activities are effectively governed within the applicable sections of the Bank's overall RMF. Partner with business units to communicate suitable risk appetite to management and manage risk infrastructure to help business operate within appetite. Independently measure, report/monitor counterparty risk from Capital Markets business activities. Serve as risk SME on regulatory and governance topics for Counterparty Credit Risk management. Partner with Capital Markets, Enterprise Finance, and 2nd line Risk Management teams to ensure compliance with financial and regulatory requirements. Participate in various Bank risk management committees as needed. Recruit, develop, and manage talent necessary to maintain effective risk management oversight. Qualifications: 10-15+ years of experience in financial services with leadership experience in a capital markets risk area, e.g. counterparty credit, market risk, risk management reporting. Experience in leading industry practices in counterparty credit risk at a large institution currently subject to the MRR. Experience with managing risk reporting processes, including developing procedures and controls. Experience with Sales & Trading activities, including derivatives and on-balance sheet hedging activity. Strong communication skills to interact with a wide audience, including executive management, auditors/regulators, and traders. Relevant professional certifications are a plus.
