The Desktop Support Technician is proactively involved in maintaining equipment, identifying potential problems, as well as researching and following up on desktop-related problems. The technician will interface regularly with end-users in person, via telephone, or through the ticketing system to perform day-to-day client support. The primary job responsibility will be to perform adds, moves, and changes of hardware. The secondary job role will provide support to end-users through the ticketing system.

Essential Functions

  • Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.

  • Inspect equipment and read order sheets to prepare for delivery to users.

  • Install and perform repairs to IT hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.

  • Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or colleagues for service and escalation.

  • Maintain records of daily communications, transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities.

  • Answer user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operation to resolve problems.

  • Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve incidents or to provide other technical assistance and support.

  • Provide desktop support 24/7 (weekdays and weekends outside of normal business hours).

  • Perform related duties as requested.

Education

  • Associate degree in IT or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be substituted in lieu of education.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in Desktop and/or Software Support.

  • Microsoft OS and Office Platforms.

  • Experience working with Azure Virtual Desktop

  • Experience providing 24/7 support (weekdays and weekends).

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Possess effective troubleshooting skills.

  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to accurately convey messages and share/receive knowledge with both technical and non-technical users.

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Able to both multitask and prioritize in a dynamic fast paced environment.

  • Commitment to cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Covius offers an extensive benefits package for all employees, including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)

  • Compensation: $19.41 to $24.26 an hour based upon work experience, skill-set and other relevant attributes.

Working Conditions

Must possess the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand and have the ability to interact with external and internal stakeholders.
