This position is part of the Arclin Corporate Engineering Group.This group is a corporate asset responsible for providing engineering and project management support to all Arclin facilities in North America. This position reports to the Sr. Director of Capital & Reliability Engineering. This specific position leads and manages the Capital Project Engineering Group in order to provide effective and efficient project management from start to finish, ensuring ongoing site support for key manufacturing processes within Arclin's APP, EBS and AA businesses.This role is also responsible for conducting industry research to ensure that Arclin has leading edge engineering technologies related to manufacturing processes.

Position Accountabilities:

Department Development:

  • Guarantee a qualified and competent project engineering team.
  • Participation in seminars, training, educational opportunities to develop and maintain thorough knowledge in technologies related to Arclin manufacturing.
  • Development and implementation of training programs for new and experienced engineers.
  • Guarantee team enhancement through specialized training, handing necessary tools and giving appropriate working conditions.
  • Organize and assign tasks to the engineering work team based on programmed activities and individual responsibilities of each member.
  • Generate and analyze engineering indicators in order to fulfill goals and company objectives.
  • Work with HSE and rest of engineering functions to continuously improve PSM performance within Arclin's productive facilities.
Capital Project Management:
  • Solicit, collate, and recommend capital projects to be implemented each year.Adjust the program to match the funds available via interface with Finance.
  • Monitor the program and work with the sites to ensure timely execution and controlled cash flow.
  • Aid in the preparation of capital Investment Requests by recommending the best equipment design for the facility.Ensure specifications, bid drawings (P&ID's, site layout, ISOs, etc.), as provided by the sites to ensure proper installation of projects.
  • Ensure that projects meet all environmental, health, safety, production, maintenance, and code requirements via interface with sites and appropriate support departments.
  • Arrange for engineering resources to assist sites on projects deemed to need corporate support.
  • Ensure professional project management tools are employed in the execution of major projects.
Plant support:
  • Be the key source of engineering knowledge for Arclin's manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of best engineering practices and standards that will be utilized in Arclin's manufacturing locations. Ensure that all practices and standards are up-to-date and posted to the Arclin SharePoint.
  • Maintain Benchmark philosophies and standards throughout the organization.
  • Interface with plant engineers to ensure adherence to Arclin Benchmark standards and policies.
  • Assist sites from an engineering perspective with PSM, OSHA, RMP, and EPA compliance. Work closely with HSE for policy creation, implementation, and direction.
Information and Communication:
  • Create reports on capital projects including timeline and adherence to budget.
  • Participate in meetings with the Engineering group, management teams, commercial groups, operations, etc.
Job Specifications:
  • Minimum Education:
  • Sc. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum Experience:
  • 8-10 years management experience. Previous project management experience on projects ranging from $10 - $100 Million dollars.
  • Additional Experience:
  • Experience in Resin, Formaldehyde, and engineered surfaces
  • Experience in JD Edwards (Oracle) type financial systems.
  • Skills:
  • Technical problem solving abilities.
  • Effective capital project management including timeline and budget.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office products.
  • Ability to manage subordinates remotely.
  • Ability to manage multiple disciplines and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company structure.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Engineering experience working on chemical processes.
  • Experience with managing project teams.
  • Strong understanding of P&IDs and Process and Equipment drawings.
  • Knowledge of process control systems.
  • General familiarity with process plant operations and equipment.
  • Project estimation experience.
  • Experience with PSM.
  • Active Listening - giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate.
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Communication - must be able to provide information to maintenance staff, co-workers, supervisors, and managers via all communication methods with ease.
