Our work depends on the Transportation/Packaging Specialist joining our team as a critical part of the mission, you will be responsible for all receiving activities including signing receipt/delivery confirmations, inventorying incoming package shipments IAW the shipping document(s), and where applicable, verifying asset serial numbers, coordinating with Production Control and the Procurement team for all expected incoming deliveries, notifies Production Control of the shipments arrival and coordinates movement of items/equipment to the appropriate storage locations.
How a Transportation/Packaging Specialist will Make an Impact:
- Work with team members to pull parts from Inventory locations throughout various warehouses for upcoming outbound shipments.
- Perform Inventory of parts by counting items or verifying Part Numbers and Serial Numbers.
- Palletize Items for shipments with like items, may require moving items to other boxes and labeling boxes.
- Strap and Wrap Pallets for shipping.
- Loading /Unloading Various style Trucks.
- Indicate how they will work with the team to resolve challenges:
- Collectively use creative thinking skills to create the best way to pull items, load / unload trucks safely and efficiently.

What Youll Need to Succeed:
The team receives, inventories and signs for incoming shipments delivered via commercial entities such as FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc., and government entities using the Catalog Ordering Logistic Tracking System (COLTS).
Upon receipt of a shipment, the Packaging/Transportation Specialist conducts the following processes:
- Collaborate with program leadership for delivery schedules
- Download packages from incoming vehicles
- Receive the incoming shipment in the receiving area
- Inventory the incoming shipment
- Inspect packages for damage and identify any issues
- Verify inventory according to order and invoices and sign for the shipment
- Notify Production Control of received shipment and any document issues
- Identify the destination of incoming equipment by reviewing the shipping documents, Property Book Items List, or directions provided by Production Control
- Receive the shipment in COLTS
- Re-locate items/equipment to the appropriate staging zone (to include assets requiring testing by FSR or Battery shop), along with a copy of the shipping document(s)
- Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control
Required Experience:
- AA/AS + 3-5 years relevant experience (6 experience in lieu of a degree)
Security Clearance Level:
- No Clearance is required; however, if you have a Secret clearance the program can support it
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Applicable logistics and/or transportation experience related to military or Government contract work
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers license
- Familiar with OSHA Health & Safety standards and regulations
- Must be forklift certified or able to pass a certification test for the operation of a forklift
- Experience with material control or freight management database systems
- Able to operate manual material handling equipment, pallet jack, push carts, etc.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous warehouse experience (understands what is required to track equipment and previous experience operating Mobile Handling Equipment), previous property management, disposition of govt. equipment.
