Job Description

The Project Engineer is a technical resource for the Project Services and Sales. This role is responsible for actively driving and leading the technology/technical evaluation stage of the Pre-bid of initial customer process as well as supporting any delivery team members during project execution or customer interactions. The Project Engineer must also be able to develop good working relationships with domain experts within the organization

Objectives of this Role:
  • Work with the Sales to understand and quantify the customer requirements including participating in pre-sales meetings
  • Work with the Sales to develop appropriate solutions
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFI/RFP requests
  • Assist senior project engineers in crafting technical portions and final scope of a proposal.
  • Research options and request quotes for outsourced components of projects and/or custom products as the need arises
  • Support Applications Engineering to develop the detailed low-level solution and any required documentation (installation and training materials, Remote Commissioning templates, as-builts, submittals, etc.)
  • Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
  • Assist senior project engineers in the conduct of technical studies and preparation of cost estimates.
  • Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during the pilot implementation and evaluation process; assist in training of field resources.
  • Create support documents and assist in the preparation of training materials to be used to train all support groups at middle and final stages of project or new to business solution.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of forms and documents used for Project Services including survey forms, drawings, commissioning forms, etc.
  • Work with Field Services and contractors as required on the implementation and improvement of projects or new offerings using feedback from those responsible for the field installation and start- ups.
  • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring the assigned engineering projects
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies
  • Work with manager to log all applications, projects, and new business opportunities, keep in line with Key Performance Indictors.
  • Maintain and measure self and proficiency in all products and services that the company offers and all designated third-party products and services. This includes installation, programming, and equipment protocol.
  • Monitor and measure overall product knowledge and put in place continuous improvements plans to ensure knowledge growth
  • Support the technical requirements of multiple projects from the proposals stage up to project execution as assigned by the Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer.
  • Performs other functions as may be deemed necessary by and needed to deliver the output guided by the company's vision, mission, and employee policies
This position is open to remote work in the Southeast region (local to Florida preferred) with overall travel ~50-60%.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:
  • Industry knowledge in two or more of the following is required: controls, energy management systems, refrigeration systems, mechanical/electrical system energy systems, energy projects in new buildings and retrofit applications for dry retail, food service and retail food facilities.
  • Prior HVAC/R experience
  • Experience supporting sales opportunities
  • Experience in Bill of Material (BOM) structures
  • Ability to adapt to quick changing priorities
  • Ability to lead and effectively present to multiple, challenging priorities and effectively prioritize and excel in a high- pressure environment
  • Proficient in technology - Microsoft Office, CAD, Acrobat
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team-oriented and environment with excellent English communication
  • Authorization to work in the United States now and in the future without sponsorship
Preferred Education, Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering
  • 3 years related HAVC-R experience and/or training experience with retail/commercial store construction practices
