Fleet Turbine Services Project Manager - Vogtle 3&4
The Fleet Turbine Services (FTS) organization at Southern Nuclear is looking for a highly motivated self-directing individual to serve as the Site Turbine Services Project Manager for Vogtle 3&4. This position supports planning, preparation, coordination, and execution of Turbine-Generator work during Refueling Outages. This includes leading a team of employees/vendors/contractors responsible for all outage related activities at the site including safety, compliance, reliability, efficiency and workforce excellence. Other duties include maintaining budgets and work schedules, organizing and participating in stakeholder meetings and ensuring all deadlines for outages are met. Not only will the successful candidate put safety first in all activities, but they will also drive continuous process improvement and job performance with team members. They will demonstrate interest in the business challenge and, in turn, translate the challenges into appropriate actions for the team. They will always promote and strive for excellence.
Turbine Services is a Fleet organization; therefore some travel in support of other Sites' outages, training, and benchmarking is required (less than 25%). This position will report to the Plant Vogtle 3&4 Site Turbine Supervisor.
Summary of Position Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring outage activities are performed in accordance with approved procedures and work order instructions.
- Demonstrating ownership of business and management goals, and leading team alignment achieve those goals.
- Active participation and interaction with the outage workforce to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently and effectively.
- Observation of outage staff to provide intervention and coaching to reinforce Safety, expectations, and positive behaviors.
- Identification/Implementation of best-practices and initiatives.
- Participation in benchmarking and assessment activities as needed
- Evaluation of potential problems and technical issues and develop solutions
- Management of outage-related documentation and logs
- Communication with vendors and contractors to identify and define outage requirements, scope and objectives
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- BS Engineering Degree is preferred
- Two years Turbine/Generator Experience is required
- One year of commercial or Navy nuclear experience preferred
- Supervisory/leadership experience strongly preferred
- Previous work planning, experience preferred
- Must be well organized and capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously
- Must have strong written, oral, and presentation skills
- Must be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
- Must have a working knowledge of OSHA and NRC requirements and be familiar with plant design and function
- Understanding of union contracts preferred
- Working knowledge of computer software programs supporting assigned area: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Teams, IDDEAL, etc.
- Experience with Maximo and Primavera (P6) is a plus
