Environmental Specialist Operations Manager - Evenings

Pay Range:

Environmental Specialist Operations Manager:

  • Plans workflow and staffing levels to ensure quality service, efficient labor utilization, and staffing balance. Coordinates operational tasks and resolves problems with other department managers to ensure timely and efficient service.
  • Supervise a section responsible for planning, coordination, and controlling day-to-day operations and procedures, including daily absence tracking, staff planning, quality monitoring, Shift reports, and other EVS administrative functions. Review all EVS activity with the EVS Assistant Director daily.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational and staffing issues by implementing all policies and practices and EVS departmental policies and practices, including conflict resolution, progressive discipline, and employee recognition, as well as participating in staff recruiting initiatives.
  • Evaluate service and recommend operational and or organizational change.
  • Plan work schedules, hours, areas of work, and job duties to ensure adequate housekeeping services are provided in all areas.
  • Regularly inspect and evaluate the physical condition of the facility; recommend painting, repairs, and furnishings.
  • Schedule major project work, ensuring adequate staff and supplies are available. Coordinate all outside services relative to the Housekeeping department (i.e., pest Control, Window Cleaning, Medical Waste, Solid Waste, Document Destruction, and Recycling program.
  • Supervises the relocation and storage of all furnishings and equipment, as well as the relocation of space to improve the facility's sanitation and appearance. Conducts a regular inventory of housekeeping supplies and orders them, keeping costs in line with budgetary amounts.
  • Manage daily attendance, including daily attendance tracking, Kronos payroll editing, and other payrolls related like FMLA, STD, and coded Kronos.
  • Conduct training, evaluation, and professional development for front-line staff.
  • Ensure department functions are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities related to and appropriate to the position and area. The above responsibilities are a general description of the level and nature of the work assigned to this classification and are not to be considered all-inclusive.
  • It promotes adherence to the Health Sciences Compliance Program, the Howard University Code of Ethics, and the Health Sciences Standards of Conduct.
  • Attends mandatory annual and periodic Compliance Program training, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy training.
  • Participates in activities that promote adherence to federal healthcare program requirements.
  • Actively participates in Health Sciences Compliance Program activities
  • Adheres to the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • Maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with internal- and external department leaders.
  • Maintain flexibility in working on assigned schedules according to operational needs.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures.
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
  • Ability to use working knowledge of the working environment to meet established goals and objectives.
  • Proficient in using Windows-based office software, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated progressive growth in the field of healthcare housekeeping facility maintenance.
Qualified Candidate possesses:
  • A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Five (5) years of related experience
  • One (1) of supervisory experience is desired.
