Nulixir, a nano-biotechnology start-up, is a VC-backed business-to-business (B2B) company that develops, manufactures, and licenses intellectual property (IP) for smart nanocarriers, called nanovesicles, which optimize the performance of functional ingredients in food & beverage products. Nulixir, as the Function House, is revolutionizing the functional ingredient space by introducing a realm of functionality and shaping the future of intelligent food. This patented technology (70+ patents) has applications across multiple verticals in food and beverage (e.g., nootropics, energy stimulants, vitamins, probiotics, protein, etc.).
Founded in 2019, the company brought together a team of CPG leaders, cancer researchers, US attorneys, and nutritionists to overcome long-standing challenges in the Food and Beverage Industry. The firms founder has extensive experience in the development of nanocarriers for cancer therapeutics.
In the past-year, Nulixir sales have grown ~8x with strong interest from small, mid-size and many large CPG companies to partner with Nulixir and incorporate the technology in their products. Nulixir boasts an impressive board of senior executives from companies like Pepsi, Danone, Mckinsey & Company, Paine Schwartz Partners, etc. The company currently has 30+ employees with a stellar executive team who come from food B2B companies such as ADM, Givaudan, Kerry, and ex-MBB consultants.
Position Overview:
Nulixir is seeking to fill a new position, Director of Market Strategy, reporting directly to the Head of Strategy & Finance and working closely with the Head of Sales.
In this job, you will play a pivotal role in the success of Nulixir by supporting the highest priority strategic commercial and cross-functional initiatives. This person will be instrumental in developing and executing end-to-end commercialization strategy (including product development / innovation, customer experience, etc.). The ideal candidate is a detailed problem solver with strong management, excellent communication skills, leadership and strong executive presence. You will play a critical role in not only pushing execution in the short-term but in the ideation and creation process of medium- to long-term company strategy. You will have the opportunity to chart your own path at Nulixir, growing exponentially along with companys growth
In this critically important role, you will be responsible for:
Helping determine and prioritize key business strategies and build executable plans
Lead, coordinate, and manage cross-functional strategic initiatives
Leverage data to conduct in-depth analyses across various customer verticals to develop deep understanding of key value drivers, identifying improvement areas and opportunities in commercializing products
Manage key customer relationships and projects to ensure they are commercialized in a timely manner
Partner with Sales to create & implement strategies to grow revenue with key existing customers and defines key parameters to determine customer prioritization
Develop pricing strategy to increase customer adoption while meeting gross margin targets
Monitor and identify key competitive threats across customer verticals and develop mitigation plans (e.g., accelerating patent protection, revising pricing strategy, etc.)
Analyze internal and external trends and marketplace developments to identify new business opportunities that grows Nulixirs TAM; develop plans to capture revenue from these new opportunities in 1-3 years
Support hiring for key roles and helping build the Sales, Marketing, Finance teams
Train and coach team members across the organization building their strategic thinking and business toolkit
Establish robust process and systems (e.g., project management system, CRM, ERP for inventory, planning and forecasting, etc.) to collect critical data that will drive analytically backed decision-making
Ensure robust innovation pipeline is maintained to continuously bring variations of current products as well as new products to market
Collaborate with Sales to establish annual revenue targets and plans to achieve them
Establish process to prioritize short-term product development based on an intelligent set of metrics, including revenue potential, timing, strategic client partnership and market positioning, and resource availability
Support the continuous improvement of all supporting processes and systems needed to meet customers needs, preferably before they are aware of that need
Optimize customer journey and experience to ensure best-in-class customer service
Partner with Head of Strategy & Finance to continuously evolve Nulixirs go-to-market strategy to help achieve companys growth targets
Some things we consider important for this role:
3-5 years of experience working at a top-tier strategy consulting firm
Comfortable working at both a strategic and tactical level
Experience with B2B business
In-depth understanding of start-up culture and mentality
Training and knowledge of metrics and data-driven approach to managing performance and decision-making process
Process and project management skills and experience
Strong verbal and written communication and reporting skills
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
Influence stakeholders across functions to ensure action on strategic findings and plans
Ability to find creative solutions to complex problems
