Job Overview:

Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Human Resources Specialist in our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Pasadena, CA.

This position is full time, non-exempt, and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $26.78 - $32.00 per hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities:

The Human Resources Specialist supports the daily operations of the Human Resources department by supporting staff through processing staffing changes, new hires and terminations; assisting with benefit enrollments and recruitment, etc. This position also provides reporting and clerical support to Human Resources Manager, as well as Joint Commission readiness for HR Standards.

  • Maintains up to date personnel files in an accurate and timely manner within established The Joint Commission/Title XXII guidelines.
  • Verifies date and personnel information according to policy and legal guidelines (i.e. employee verifications and unemployment documents), distributes requested information to appropriate parties.
  • Prepares/ inputs appropriate paperwork to be sent to the Home Office human resources for input in a timely manner. This includes electronic: New Hire Form, Status Change Forms, Benefits Forms and other electronic versions of employee forms. Double checks the Home Office entry to verify accuracy of input.
  • Establishes and maintains various databases and tracking systems (computerized and manual) to ensure compliance with legal and Hospital guidelines regarding professional licensure/certification, CPR, PALs and Primary Source Verification. Follows up monthly with Managers and employees to retrieve current data. Notifies HR Manager of any issues in a timely manner.
  • Assists with New Hire Orientation and on-boarding for all new hires.
  • Processes student paperwork and completes on and off boarding processes.
  • Reconciles and verifies monthly premium statements and HR related invoices to present to HR Manager for approval.
  • Provide telephone coverage for the Human Resources Department.

Qualifications:

Education

High School diploma or GED preferred

Experience

3 year of Human Resources experience required, preferably in healthcare environment

Knowledge of: Computerized databases and word processing systems to include Microsoft Office, (Word and Excel); Basic record keeping and filing systems; General office duties (i.e. fax, photocopy, etc.); Basic principles of accounting and payroll. Ability to: Communicate effectively with the general public while performing required tasks. Adapt to a variety of new and sensitive situations and responsibilities in an appropriate and positive manner. Learn assigned specialized databases including SumTotal and Kronos. Use assigned computer software programs with speed and accuracy. Analyze data, problem solve, and select an appropriate course of action from a given set of alternatives. Learn new information and put knowledge into practice.
