JOB TITLE: Compliance Officer

ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Gaming Commission

SUPERVISOR: Compliance Manager

FLSA: Non-Exempt

SALARY RANGE: $19.23-$24.03 per hour

JOB SUMMARY: To observe and report any and all issues related to casino operations and ensure complete compliance with NIGC MICS, Tribal Internal Control Standards, Tribal Gaming Commission regulations, and Tribal-State Compact requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•Establish and conduct regular meetings with Policy and Compliance Analyst to address reported or observed issues of non-compliance and other issues as they arise.

•Conduct investigations of reported non-compliance instances as deemed necessary. Ensure corrective action has taken place.

•Obtain responses for Citizen Potawatomi Nation Gaming Commission reported instances of non-compliance. Review the content of the responses for adequacy.

•Maintain current and thorough knowledge of Indian Gaming Regulatory Act of 1988, National Indian Gaming Commission Minimum Internal Control Standards, State Compact regulations, and any future regulations that may apply to ensure that the operation of the casino is in compliance.

•Continually obtain and review changes to federal, state and tribal regulations affecting Indian Gaming. Provide Policy and Compliance Analyst with regular updates.

•Obtain updates and/or memos in regards to all tribal gaming facilities' policies and procedures for general compliance with the representative regulations. Effectively communicate current and revised policy and procedure changes to the Policy and Compliance Analyst to ensure timely approval and acceptance.

REQUIREMENTS:

•Associate's Degree, security training or experience, casino operational training or experience, counseling or work related experience preferred, or three plus years experience within a regulatory environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

•Teaching/mentoring background very necessary with the ability to create success from all educational levels.

•Ability to work any shift and/or days necessary to help all personnel.

•Strong leadership, organizational, communication, human relations and decision-making skills required.

•Must have skill in applying complete fact finding, analytical and problem solving method and technique.

•Excellent written and oral communication skills sufficient to provide effective reporting and public speaking.

•Possess strong interpersonal skills and have mature judgment and initiative.

Conceptual understanding of the following:

  • National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC)
  • ?Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS)
  • ?Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS)
  • ?State Compact
  • ?Governing Licensee Compliance and Enforcement
  • ?Bank Secrecy Act and U.S. Patriot with regards to Title 31 and Suspicious Activity Reports pertaining to Casino Activity

  • ?Casino Departmental Policies and Procedures


•Ensure confidentiality throughout the department.

•Must be able to work in a smoking environment.

•Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license with the NIGC which entails a full background check.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

WORKING CONDITIONS:

•Normal casino environment

•Flexible hours (weekends, nights, and holidays)
