Reports to : Plant/Operations ManagerThe Materials Manager will be responsible for oversight and management of the procurement, inventory, and distribution of materials within the organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to ensure optimal material flow, maintain inventory accuracy, and support production goals.Key Responsibilities:Planning/Scheduling:Develop and implement material planning strategies to meet production schedules.Collaborate with production, product management and sales teams to forecast material needs.Procurement:Source and negotiate with suppliers for materials, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality standards.Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors.Develop supplier score cards based on quality and deliveryDevelop approved supplier database for all components and servicesInventory Control:Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure availability while minimizing excess stock.Implement inventory management systems and processes for accurate tracking and reporting.Develop and maintain cycle count process including frequencyMaterial Handling:Oversee the material movements to production to support schedule.Develop and maintain receiving process and labeling standardsEnsure timely delivery of materials to production sites.Team Leadership:Supervise Inventory Purchaser and Materials Handlers.Lead and develop a team of materials personnel, providing training and guidance as needed.Foster a collaborative work environment focused on continuous improvement.Compliance and Safety:Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies related to material handling and storage.Conduct regular audits and assessments of material processes.Reporting and Analysis:Prepare and present regular reports on inventory, procurement and scheduling activities, and material costs to senior management.Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.RequirementsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.Minimum of 3 years of experience in materials management or a similar role.Strong knowledge of inventory management systems and practices.Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Proven leadership ability and experience managing a team.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and ERP System preferably NetSuitePreferred Qualifications:Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CPIS).Experience in construction or manufacturing industries.Benefits:XCaliber Container offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, and career of our staff.
