**Pilot Plant Process Development - Team Lead Fermentation**

IFF Palo Alto CA (formerly Danisco, Genencor Technology and Innovation Center) is looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our Process Development team. In this role, you will be working in upstream processing in our state-of-the-art R&D Laboratories and Pilot Plant Facility. You will be part of a team responsible for the fast-paced and hands-on development of biological production processes across all stages of process development: from discovery, scale-up to pilot production, and technology transfer to manufacturing plants.
Specific duties include:
Hands on implementation of upstream processes such as prepping bioreactors, sterilizing media, and aseptic sampling
Coaching and developing direct reports, Process Technicians
Ability to apply scientific principles to solve operations, as well as routine production tasks
Work collaboratively with process technicians, development engineers, research scientists, and global supply teams to resolve technical challenges.
Scheduling and planning of upstream activities. Ensures equipment and the work area is available for use.
Accountable for delivery on time on committed activities within the Team
Attending departmental meetings
Resolving personnel issues and workplace conflicts
Troubleshooting, problem solving operational and/or performance issues
Responsible for the training and development of the Team
Other- leading improvement activities, helping with hiring of staff
Guaranteeing the appropriate handover of information between teams and shifts
Define the workload and justify by numbers if additional resources are required
Perform other duties, as assigned. Includes equipment commissioning and PSSR participation
****Job Requirements****
Requirements:
Training: 7 to 10 years experience in upstream (fermentation/bioreactor) OR Biotech field
1 or more years leadership experience such as team or project management, a benefit
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Team player
Self-starter with good organizational skills
Strong planning, prioritization, and scheduling skills. Organized.
Ability to problem solve
Ability to communicate in both written and verbal format.
Documentation skills including: review and establishing batch production records, SOPs, deviation and summary reports
