Responsibilities for the Junior Accountant:

  • Process accounts payable transactions, including verifying invoices, obtaining approvals, and preparing payments.
  • Assist in accounts receivable tasks, such as generating invoices, recording receipts, and following up on outstanding balances.
  • Perform data entry tasks to maintain accurate financial records in the accounting system.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, including budget vs. actual analysis and variance explanations.
  • Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with the annual audit process by providing documentation and supporting schedules as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team, including filing, scanning, and organizing documents.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address accounting-related inquiries and provide support as needed.

Qualifications of the Junior Accountant:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred (or working towards a degree).
  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in a non-profit organization (internship experience may be considered).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial calculations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the non-profit sector.

Salary:

$25 per hour
