As a member of the GHQ Philanthropy team, the Senior Grant Writing Manager (Corporate) is an experienced senior professional who serves as a lead content writer for high-value (six figures and greater) regional and national Corporate solicitations. Primary responsibility is to independently oversee principal-level corporate grant proposal development, including: project management, convening subject matter experts, content development and strategy, advanced budget development, customizing donor-centric approach, necessary pre and/or post-award writing, meticulous record-keeping, and advising on any potential compliance issues related to both funding agency regulations and standards as well as internal ACS protocol.

In partnership with Corporate fundraisers, Sr. Grant Manager, Corporate supports a high-value portfolio of corporate and corporate foundation solicitations and carries a personal revenue support goal of $3-5 million annually. This role provides expert-level content development for the agency on all ACS pillars and programs, including cancer research, by translating internal programs of work or program concepts into comprehensive and compelling grant proposals. Attention to detail is critical.

The Senior Grant Manager maintains a robust collection of collateral materials and content, and continually builds out and refreshes donor-facing materials to support overall development efforts.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a lead proposal writer and convening partner for Corporate staff working with Corporations and Corporate Foundations, leading communication between development and mission staff, while consulting with various GHQ offices to ensure compliance.
  • Produce and support a steady and robust volume of six- to eight-figure funding requests that are compelling, competitive, and align with funder interests while adhering to ACS goals and objectives
  • Advise regional staff partners on ACS funding opportunities, alignment, propensity/capacity, timing, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with ACS/funder policies, regulations, and procedures; advise on documentation and grant agreement requirements; and advanced budget development.
  • Develop and refresh grant proposals and other ACS priority funding initiatives
  • Serve as an expert content developer - translating internal programs of work or program concepts into donor-facing cultivation and solicitation materials, including but not limited to; concept summaries, LOIs, proposals, infographics, logic models, SMART outcomes, timelines, budget, budget narratives, and upon grant award, assists in drafting grant agreements and MOUs.
  • Advise and/or direct regional staff partners on open or upcoming concepts, proposals, or research partnerships
  • Use strong ACS brand styling to capture a captivating voice and tone, as well as visual design to engage prospective donors and solicit a response through a call to action
  • Engage creative/marketing department and/or external firm to assist in the development of visual proposals for high-value prospects when necessary.
  • Participate as an expert in a highly collaborative environment, contributing to an overall body of work in the grant writing space.
  • When appropriate, assist with training/mentoring of other grant writing staff in their pursual of high-value principal-level solicitations.
  • Provide grant writing support coverage to any/all members of the Foundation Relations team as needed.
  • Collaborates with key Corporate fundraisers to optimize the offerings and execution for national or regional partner opportunities.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
  • Bachelor's Degree, plus at least seven years experience in grant writing for institutional donors, including corporations. Preference is given to individuals with experience in a health-focused environment and in soliciting/securing 7-figure gifts.
  • Candidate must have a superior grasp of copywriting and grammar.
  • Candidate should have knowledge of restricted fund accounting principles, procedures, and standards.
OTHER SKILLS
  • Successful candidates will be both independent and collaborative.
  • Must have excellent written and analytical skills in order to shape ideas and concepts into sound grant proposals.
  • Candidate must also have the ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate complex financial, health, and program delivery data, and translate complex scientific information to a general audience, along with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with experience in providing crisp, insightful information to colleagues and external audiences.
  • Proficient at working with senior leadership across the organization to manage the process and set expectations accordingly.
  • Flexible mindset, and comfort with ambiguity and evolving priorities. Entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking.
  • Project management capabilities and high attention to detail; comfortable working under complex demands.

Limited travel may be required.

The starting rate is $80,000 to $100,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
