POSITION OVERVIEW

The mission of Mary Hall Freedom Village, Inc. (MHFV) is to empower women, children, veterans, and families to end the cycle of homelessness, addiction, and poverty.

The Grant Development Manager will lead the preparation, writing, and submission of new grants in addition to providing leadership and oversight to ensure the seamless, integrated coordination among departments at Mary Hall Freedom Village, Inc. (MHFV) for the life cycle of grants and contracts, from project development through award implementation, reporting, and invoicing. The Grant Development Manager coordinates the administration of grant awards. While several individuals and departments within the MHFV are involved in a variety of activities associated with each grant, the Grant Development Manager establishes and maintains the official files for grant awards.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

GRANT SUPPORT

Research and identify potential grant opportunities for the organization. Write and submit grant proposals, ensuring they are accurate, compelling, and meet all requirements. Collaborate with program managers and other staff members to gather information needed for grant proposals. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization's programs and initiatives. Conduct thorough research on relevant topics, statistics, and best practices to support grant proposals. Edit and proofread grant proposals for clarity, coherence, and adherence to guidelines. Prepare financial reports and budgets for grant applications. Monitor and track progress of submitted grants, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements. Maintain a database of grants, deadlines, and outcomes. Manages donor base, data entry, and booking of gifts in organization's donor database, assuring accuracy and confidentiality of all donor records and revenue received. Partner with key staff to plan, implement and achieve detailed annual fundraising plans or events and revenue targets. Cultivate and play an active role in soliciting new and existing foundation, individual, corporate and government donors that fund services provided by the organization. Provide oversight for the Development department by supervising and delegating tasks to Grant Development Coordinators. Implement and follow through on any programmatic decisions or changes put in place by the CFO or CEO. Ensure department cohesion by effectively communicating internally, within the department and organization, and externally, with any community partners. Assist in the preparation of gifts reports and correspondence. Assists in the coordination with mail Village on mail merging solicitation letters, newsletters, annual reports. Answer general Development phone inquiries. Responds to internal and external requests for gifts reports. Maintains pledge records and processes timely pledge reminder letters to donors. Works closely with vendors on coordinating direct mailings. Maintains bulk mail and business reply mail accounts. Maintains awareness of donor database upgrades. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, which could include some evenings for events. Ability to follow instructions, or to ask questions when in doubt. Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid Georgia driver's license for business-related travel as needed. Responsible for other duties and deliverables that may be assigned. Serve as the lead for the donor database, including its infrastructure, data entry systems, gift processing and report writing. Identify and implement processes and improvements to ensure the integrity of the database, including troubleshooting/identifying inconsistencies and making corrections.  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides supervision for two Grant Development Coordinators and any department volunteers or interns. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, orienting, training employees, planning, scheduling family engagement events, family reunification scheduling, directing work related activities; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems related to the Development department.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BA/BS degree and a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible fund-raising practice with experience in cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of corporations and foundations or a combination of education and experience. Self-motivated and capable of achieving goals with limited supervision. Proven experience in grant writing or a related field. Familiarity with substance abuse programs, housing, employment, human services, and/or community development programs is helpful.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Information research skills. Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, federal and university regulations. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to prepare research reports and proposals. Ability to analyze budgetary line items for compliance with budget guidelines.
