GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

Presently, IRCO maintains approximately 350 program grants. The Lead Grants Accountant is assigned a portfolio of grants and prepares billings and reconciliations for them. The accountant also plays a key role communicating progress and variances with budget analysts and program managers.

The position performs financial analyses and provides back-up for other accountants during peak workload periods. This position accurately maintains records associated with the work and provides detailed information for external and internal stakeholders.

The successful Lead Grants Accountant will be detail-oriented, communicative, highly interculturally competent and enjoy contributing to a healthy workplace culture for all employees in support of IRCO's mission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare and review invoices and reports as directed by funder requirements and fiscal standards.
  • Supervises team of Grant Accountants.
  • Maintain and review customer database.
  • Reconcile balances for accounts receivable, aging and collection reports.
  • Respond to funders requests for supporting documents.
  • Maintain communication with program managers regarding outstanding receivables.
  • Monitor accounts receivable variances in collaboration with budget analysts and program management.
  • Document processes and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare reports as requested for fundraising events and other activities.
  • Other tasks within the accounting team as needed.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
  • Participate in IRCO based required DEIB, anti-harassment, and other training.
  • Attend recurring all-staff meetings, team meetings and other requested meetings.
  • Participate in policy work with strategic plan workgroup on request.
  • Pursue relevant training in the field of accounting.
  • Support IRCO's strategic goals and objectives.


Requirements

JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Accounting, Business or similar combination of education and experience.

Four years' experience in accounting, preferably in a nonprofit organization.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of GAAP accounting

Proficiency in Abila MIP preferred, Microsoft Office Suite required.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Intercultural competence; demonstrated skill in understanding cultural differences.

Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with stakeholders, staff, and community members.

KNOWLEDGE:

Education: Bachelor's Degree (4)

Experience: 3-4 years of experience is required (4)

Computers: All positions at IRCO require use of a computer and experience working with Microsoft Products including Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
