The LYNC Service Specialist functions as a resource and intervention specialist to youth enrolled in the program by connecting youth to community resources and facilitating cognitive behavioral and life skill groups. As part of the LYNC team the service specialist will maintain a cultural, gender and trauma responsive approach to all services offered. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for researching and maintaining a list of all community resources from each town in the program service area. Spend stipulated time required in the community and maintain log for time and connections made. Coordinate with Family Advocate in identifying available community resources and assist in making meaningful connections with youth and their families. Maintain compliance in documentation with agency and program standards. Participate in staff meetings, supervision and other meetings assigned. Attend all required trainings timely. Responsible for maintaining relationships with community providers. Resource to Juvenile Probation Officers who may be seeking information about resources in a specific community. Facilitate cognitive behavioral and life skills groups. Assist in transportation and other program needs as appropriate. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics: Knowledge Of: Community resources for families and adolescents. Engagement and motivational skills. General office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite. Ability To: Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Manage priorities effectively to meet deadlines and demonstrate multi-tasking skills. Assimilate new information and technology. Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Community Organizing, Human Services, Sociology or at least three years' experience and knowledge working with juvenile justice system and/or working with juvenile justice involved youth in communities. Strong knowledge base of resources in the community. Experience with the juvenile justice population a plus. Bilingual in Spanish or Creole a plus. Other: Must be dependable and reliable; detailed oriented; and able to interface easily with clients, staff, and referral sources. Must be able to meet routine office physical demands including climbing stairs, carrying up to 20 pound objects and possess the dexterity and vision to operate office computers and equipment. Must have a valid Driver's License. Must successfully complete the introductory probationary employment period. This job description covers the most significant duties but does not exclude other assignments or related duties.
