The manager will also provide direct management to APPs within the general surgery department and collaborate with the faculty physicians. The primary managerial responsibility is to provide professional support to the APPs and Lead APPs so there is alignment with the departments and UCSF Health. The primary clinical responsibility is to provide clinical services to inpatient adult patients. The APP manager will be a practicing clinician and administrator. The incumbent will be 10% clinical 90% administrative with the flexibility to limit their clinical practice based on administrative demands. The central responsibility of this role is to serve as a single point of contact, liaison, and expertise for matters specific to practice oriented APPs resourcing the APP workforce. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate prepared. Advanced experience in clinical specialty supervising APPs. Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document staff issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters. Demonstrated leadership skills to effectively supervise clinicians, manage complex workflow and multiple priorities. Working knowledge of human resources management practices and policies. Demonstrated ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document APP performance. Knowledge of business software, specialized applications and data management systems used in clinics / clinical departments. Demonstrated leadership and professional growth by achieving promotion to NP 3 classification. License/Certification Current California license in good standing by specialty within 90 days of hire: RN and NP, or Physician Assistant Master's Degree required in a health care related field from an accredited program. Possess National Provider Identification (NPI). Furnishing license as required by specialty. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license in the state of California within 90 days of hire. Current American Heart Association CPR certification. National board certification in area of clinical practice upon hire. Current American Heart Association ACLS Certification.
