Situated across the street from the Long Beach Convention Center and just two blocks from the beach, the Westin Long Beach has something to offer both business and leisure travelers alike. This 474-room hotel is also ideal for groups and weddings, with 37,000 square feet of meeting space, 31 suites, and a stunning garden terrace perfect for "I Dos". And with the Westin's central location, guests are within walking distance of the Aquarium of the Pacific and the Catalina Express, and are just two miles from the Queen Mary.

Overview:

The Complex Purchasing Manager is responsible for handling and overseeing the procurement of goods and services through appropriate bidding processes to achieve optimum price value while maintaining superior quality consistent with Highgate Hotels established control policies and procedures. Additionally, the Complex Purchasing Manager ensures compliance of the purchasing platforms throughout the market.

Responsibilities:

Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of 6 years of related progressive experience in hotel or related field; or a 4-year college degree and a minimum of 2 years of related progressive experience; or a 2-year college degree and a minimum of 4 years of related progressive experience.
  • Previous supervisory responsibilities required.
  • Must be proficient in Windows, Birchstreet, and Microsoft Office. Proficiency in Oracle is helpful.

Physical Requirements:

  • Long hours sometimes required.
  • Heavy work sometimes required, exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force frequently, or constantly, to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects

  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing nametags.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.


Qualifications:

Fundamental Requirements:

  • Effectively manage and communicate issues related to suppliers and act as the liaison between market hotels and Highates select Supply Management partner.
  • Ensure that all purchases, requisitions, etc. have proper approvals and all orders are placed and received in accordance with Highgate Hotels policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food and beverage storage laws, regulations and codes.
  • Oversee and assist as necessary in the unloading, receiving, sorting, stocking, securing, and distributing goods.
  • Participate in the inventory process (monthly, quarterly, and annually).
  • Secure competitive bids and maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Ensure inventory pricing reflects most current information.
  • Interview, train, supervise and develop Purchasing and/or Receiving staff, including coaching, counseling and discipline.
  • Track all price changes.
  • Keep supervisor aware of any unusual occurrences and significant deviations from standards, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and prepare financial reports in accordance with Highgate Hotels requirements meeting various due dates and deadlines.
  • Attend, contribute, and provide periodic training in various meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.

Salary: $85k - $95k Annually
