About The Ministry:

Shepherd's Gate has positively impacted women and children in crisis for 40 years. We provide an exceptional program for our clients, and our well-respected staff helps change lives.

About the position:

We are looking for a part-time Children's Support Assistant with a lot of experience working with children of all ages. The Children's Support Assistant is responsible for ensuring a safe and fun environment while supervising young and school-age children during everyday activities. We are located in Livermore, CA.

Job duties: (not a complete job description list)
  • Ensure the school-age (ages five to seventeen) children have a safe and fun environment.
  • Assisting in the Childcare department working with children from (0-5)
  • Assist with teaching children age-appropriate Bible stories and educational curriculum.
  • Assist school-age children with homework support, technology support, and overseeing children.
  • Assist and participate in the Children's Physical Fitness Program.
  • Maintain a safe workplace by monitoring children for health, behavioral, and emotional issues. Use de-escalation techniques when needed.
  • Drive and pick up children from school as needed.
  • Mandated Reporter Training (provided upon hire)
  • Demonstrate a committed Christian faith.
  • Schedule: Available to work 20-25 hours per week. Monday-Thursday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. Occasionally, different hours when needed.
Requirements:
  • Ability to demonstrate Christian faith and the heart of Jesus Christ in a Christian community environment.
  • Experience working with children of all ages is preferred.
  • Must be able to work Monday- Thursday 10:00 am- 5:00 pm, occasional evenings.
  • Compassion and understanding toward children who suffered trauma.
  • Mandated Reporter Training (provided upon hire)
  • First Aid training and CPR Certification (provided upon hire)
  • Must be able to drive. To drive for Shepherd's Gate, you must have your California driver's license for at least 5 years with no major violations.
  • Must pass a background investigation.
Benefits:

Salary: $17.00-$18.00 an hour
