Accounts Payable Specialist
Are you an experienced Accounts Payable professional seeking a new challenge? We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Payable Accountant to join a reputable organization located in New Haven. This role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in the financial operations of the organization while ensuring the smooth processing of purchase orders and accounts payable functions.
What you'll do as an Accounts Payable Specialist:
- Process purchase orders and invoices efficiently
- Input requisitions for purchases/annual contracts, ensuring fund availability
- Handle all AP mail and related paperwork, forwarding to the appropriate school for approval
- Enter all bills for payment preparation
- Review open purchase order listings and outstanding invoices periodically
- Create warrant requests for funds, including necessary backup information
- Manage petty cash requests, replenishment, and account reconciliation
- Coordinate with vendors regarding orders, deliveries, credits, and other issues
- Provide support to school personnel regarding purchase orders and order placement
- Maintain purchase order and invoice files for retention
- Keep the Director of Business, Operations, and Human Resources updated on AP issues
- Organize and prepare 1099 tax forms
- Fulfill other assigned duties as required by management
What you'll need to succeed as an Accounts Payable Specialist:
- Bachelor's Degree in business or accounting preferred
- MUNIS Software is a big PLUS
- Minimum of 3 years experience in accounts payable
- Intermediate Excel skills (import/ export, vlookup, pivot tables)
- Strong organizational and independent work skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
