RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Apply, register, and maintains company compliance with state SUI and withholding tax accounts for new locations, FEINS, as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations, including taxation of fringe benefits, by studying existing and new legislation and advising management on needed action.
  • Establishes and maintains federal, state, and local tax rates and information.
  • Ensure employee payroll taxes are processed timely and accurately and in compliance with Federal and State law.
  • Reconciles payroll tax reports to ensure accurate filings.
  • Responsible for tax balancing and oversight of filing of tax returns in all applicable jurisdictions.
  • Monitors and researches changes in tax regulations and updates payroll systems as needed.
  • Maintain unemployment tax rates and communicate changes to third-party tax service.
  • Provides payroll tax support and resolves tax issues or questions by researching and gathering the information needed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Responsible for receiving, processing, and reconciling payroll tax related correspondence received via mail, email, or phone.
  • Provide customer service to employees by providing documents and information on payroll tax issues/questions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school or equivalent
  • Accounting Degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of payroll tax processing
  • Knowledge of Vista Viewpoint preferred
  • Experience with ADP Smart Compliance integration preferred
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of best payroll practices

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Able to deal with difficult issues with employees in a calm, knowledgeable and discrete manner.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency and a proactive approach when completing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and accountability skills, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
