The Cost Accountant will be actively involved within the accounting department of DMA Industries, LLC as the company experiences continued growth. The Cost Accountant plays a pivotal role in our company's financial operations. You will be responsible for detailed analysis of costs associated with importing, distributing, and managing inventory. Your expertise will help identify areas for cost reduction, streamline processes, and ensure financial accuracy throughout the supply chain. POSITION OVERVIEW: Working independently from, and alongside of experienced members within the Finance and Operations team, The Cost Accountant will be responsible to Cost Analysis: Analyze and track various costs along the supply chain, including product acquisition, freight, warehousing, labor, transportation, and return processing. Develop and maintain detailed cost models for imported products. Identify and recommend areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvement. Inventory Control: Analyze inventory levels, turnover rates, and holding costs. Collaborate with supply chain teams to recommend inventory strategies that balance customer demands with cost-efficiency. Provide insights on optimizing inventory management to reduce waste and minimize costs. Operational Efficiency: Assess operational processes to identify inefficiencies and potential areas for cost reduction. Analyze labor costs, track time allocation, and ensure the accuracy of labor coding to projects and products. Collaborate with operational teams to improve efficiency and control labor costs. Returned Goods Management: Track and analyze the costs associated with processing returned goods, including inspection, restocking, and disposition. Develop strategies to reduce return rates and optimize the associated costs. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on cost metrics, inventory performance, and operational efficiency. Identify trends and provide insights to management to support data-driven decision-making. Requirements EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling. Experience with ERP systems, especially NetSuite, is a plus. Detail-oriented and organized with an aptitude for problem-solving. Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
