Operations Training Program Specialist

Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Operations Training Program Specialist to be based out of Springfield, MO. Reporting to the Production Manager, this person will be responsible for developing and administering site-wide hourly training and qualification programs in alignment with Atkore's Frontline Worker Development Program.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and maintain technical skills training for hourly frontline workers
  • Manage the onboarding of new hire hourly frontline workers
  • Develop and manage hourly technical skills bodies of knowledge, in conjunction with subject matter experts, delivered through online, classroom and on-the-job training methodologies
  • Provide coaching and guidance to workforce (new hires and incumbents) during training and qualification periods
  • Facilitate, oversee, and audit Atkore HDPE operator level program that verifies floor training is held to best practices
  • Lead the implementation of change management initiatives, requiring training initiatives
  • Work in partnership with frontline Supervisors and Human Resources to identify employee training/development needs
  • Manage and participate in qualification assessments, re-qualifications, and cross-training activities
  • Serve as a mentor to shift leads and program stakeholders, holding them accountable for program implementation
  • Promote employee engagement by fostering open communication and soliciting feedback
  • Develop and/or use process and tools for long range organization capability and workforce skill planning processes
  • Develop and/or use core tools for workforce realignment efforts and consults with key business stakeholders on restructuring initiatives
  • Help drive the development of standardized jobs and capabilities, as well as an annual review and maintenance process of workforce qualifications
  • Partner with Human Resources, Production Manager and EHS to create learning roadmaps outlining learning offerings aligned to capabilities across functions
  • Develop and/or use strategies and tools for measuring culture and employee engagement, along with the process for driving continuous improvement actions
  • Manage supplier/vendor relationships for training development projects
  • Perform outreach to the community to build bridges with schools and other workforce channels to increase pipeline of future workforce
  • Ensure that the team honors our Atkore core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect, and Excellence in all aspects of their daily work

What you'll bring:

  • High School diploma required.
  • Must have a minimum 2 - 4 years of proven industry or related experience
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry with a high level of performing technical jobs at Atkore
  • Prior experience in driving training initiatives related to job qualification and/or organization realignment and competency
  • A passion for change management and experience leading change initiatives
  • Action-oriented and results-driven
  • Creativity and ability to persuade, build commitment to vision, mission, and goals of the company
  • Self-starter: able to multitask, managing projects on tight schedules from inception through delivery with little oversight and meet deadlines
  • Advanced MS Office skills, MS Teams, and Learning Management Systems

  • Complete any required training
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.
