This Intelligence Operations Specialist position is located in the Transportation Analysis Division (TAD), Intelligence and Analysis (I&A), Operations Support (OS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS).


Duties include but are not limited to:


Monitors reporting, research, writes and briefs complex threat and/or risk information relating to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) operational components, private industry, and foreign transportation security stakeholders at headquarters and in the field.

Performs and reviews analysis of intelligence/counterintelligence, open source, operational, and vetting of reports on attacks or incidents affecting transportation and other data to identify trends, patterns, linkages, draw conclusions, and estimate probabilities based on current and past intelligence/counterintelligence information and events.

Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments, but allow considerable discretion to select the most appropriate approach or to recommend new approaches.

Reviews reporting, analysis, and production for timely and accurate responses to priority intelligence/counterintelligence requirements, Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) plan of analysis, and emerging customer requirements by applying experience and advanced technical knowledge to accomplish assignments and develop plans and techniques designed to improve programs and policies.

Provides evaluation and feedback for improving intelligence/counterintelligence production, intelligence/counterintelligence reporting, collection requirements, and operations and may act as a contributing specialist on large work activities or as a team leader for single or small work activities.

Identifies and submits requirements on behalf of customers for the purposes of developing priority information/intelligence/counterintelligence requirements as appropriate and may act as a key technical point of contact for assigned activities.

Performs peer-and-first-level review of reports/products to ensure quality, clarity, accuracy, and security, and resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or a more experienced technical specialist.

Collaborates with other organizations, agencies, intelligence/counterintelligence community, and law enforcement community partners at headquarters and/or in the field to ensure comprehensive understanding of threats or risks affecting transportation and any necessary de-confliction.

Provides information, reports, and assessments for the purposes of informing leadership, customers, and other partners; seeks feedback to inform requirements and continuous improvement of products and services and performs assignments that typically require solutions that are derived by interpreting and extrapolating from situations that were faced in the past.

Work is reviewed periodically, typically at major milestones and at completion, for technical compliance and alignment with the requirements of the project or other work activity.

The major duties described above reflect the full performance level of this position.

Typically, the lower pay bands (G Band and H Band) perform the same duties but will receive more guidance and training; and/or projects/work assignments may be less complex.
