The Emergency Department houses a Level III Trauma Center and a participating trauma hospital in the Delaware Trauma System . We seek an Emergency Department Nurse Manager to provide 24-hour accountability and responsibility for excellence in the clinical and operation of nursing and the delivery of patient care. Duties & Responsibilities: Manages Nursing Practice and care delivery in Wilmington Emergency Department. Assures compliance with regulatory and professional standards. Identifies priorities of leadership and management responsibilities and demonstrates the ability to delegate. Enables a relationship-based care approach to care delivery on assigned unit. Promotes the autonomy of the nursing staff, encouraging independent decision making and problem solving. Supports and facilities a culture of nursing professional governance. Responsible for staffing, and scheduling, allocating paid time off to meet staffing needs for the ED. Maintains position control in a cost-effective manner. Interviews and hires potential employees, assuring the technical and professional development of staff. Coaches, disciplines and evaluates staff. Coaches, disciplines and evaluates staff according to ChristianaCare policy. Responsible for the development and maintenance of the budget in collaboration with Wilmington Chief Nursing Officer. Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Completed BSN and Masters Degree or Bachelors Degree and Masters of Science in Nursing Five years of appropriate clinical and leadership experience. Professional Certificate in a related nursing specialty required. Nurse Executive Certification preferred.
