1. Summarize, evaluate, and present field and laboratory data using computer worksheet programs including gINT, Microsoft Excel and Sigma Plot.

2. Perform geotechnical engineering analyses, including geotechnical characterization and selection of soil engineering properties, applying geotechnical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using computer software including SEEP/W for steady state and transient analyses, SLOPE/W for static and seismic stability analyses, liquefaction analysis, conducting consolidation analyses of clays subject to ramp loading and deriving undrained shear strength profiles in accordance with SHANSEP design methodology.

3. Perform analysis and design for shallow and deep foundation systems including bearing capacity and pile capacity calculations, settlement estimations, and downdrag applicable to foundation design of structures.

4. Plan and coordinate geotechnical laboratory testing of soils, phosphogypsum, soil/bentonite mixes, silica gravel, geosynthetics (including HDPE geonets, HDPE liner, and geotextiles), and water samples.

5. Plan and coordinate subsurface exploration programs, field tests, and construction quality assurance activities related to geotechnical engineering projects, including cut-off walls.

6. Plan, coordinate and evaluate results of dipole method testing to locate and map potential leaks in HDPE liners used in phosphogypsum disposal facility applications.

7. Plan and coordinate geophysical investigations, Standard Penetration (SPT) and Cone Penetration (CPT) tests to detect the presence of subsurface features which could be suggestive of potential paleo-karts phenomena, interpret the results of the geophysical surveys and subsurface exploration programs, and manage the remediation of potential features.

8. Research and review available information and present geotechnical, geological and hydrogeological material properties, including water balance calculations required for by-product disposal facilities, as needed for senior engineer review.

9. Develop predictive models and charts to estimate volume of slurry deposited in settling containment ponds.

10. Develop and implement technical specifications for geotechnical engineering projects, including by-product disposal sites.

11. Develop and review construction drawings for by-product disposal sites using AutoCAD Civil3D computer program, as needed for senior engineering review.

12. Monitor subsurface movements, deformations and piezometric water level data by interpreting and analyzing measurements from field instrumentation such as slope inclinometers and piezometers.

13. Analyze the results of in-situ permeability tests and review potentiometric data to develop monitor wells in various aquifer systems.

14. Perform weekly inspections at industrial waste disposal sites, oversee progress in construction, attend meetings, and draft the minutes.

15. Prepare geotechnical engineering reports summarizing field and laboratory data, engineering analyses, and construction quality assurance data applicable to geotechnical engineering projects including by-product disposal sites, as needed, for senior engineering review.

16. Assist senior engineers with project management and business development, including, preparing proposals, budget estimates and construction schedules.

17. Present technical results and reports verbally and in writing.

Coursework and research must include an emphasis on:

a) Performing and evaluating geotechnical problems using geotechnical analysis software i.e., SEEP/W and SLOPE/W. The analysis includes ground improvement seepage and stability analyses.

b) Preforming research topic on geosynthetic testing materials, emphasizing on large scale model of pavement to evaluate the role of geosynthetics as reinforcement in pavement design.

c) Performing geotechnical laboratory testing on soils, including soil classification, Atterberg limits, hydraulic conductivity, compaction, consolidation, direct shear, triaxial compression, and dynamic cone penetrometer.

d) Computing axial capacity for pile foundations on different type soils using MATLAB computer coding program and Excel.

e) Performing bearing capacity and settlement calculations for shallow foundations.

f) Performing design project of flexible pavement using AASHTO and asphalt institute methods implementing WinJulea, ME-pave, and FPS-21 computer software to determine the thickness of pavement layers.

g) Implementing an ArcGIS geostatistical method to establish the variance of soil classification error for a project site using existing soil boring data.

h) Computing consolidation excess pore water pressure dissipation and settlement using finite difference analysis accounting for time rate loading.
