**Description**

**GENERAL DESCRIPTION:** The Business Applications Delivery Director improves operational processes and supports critical business strategies by directing the development, implementation, and maintenance of best-in-class applications systems. They formulate architecture plans, estimates costs, and ensures projects meet strategic need to include developing and executing clear timelines, resource, and budget management.

The Business Applications Delivery Director is responsible for guiding, planning, and delivering a suite of applications that balances new technology with proper design, implementation, scalability, maintainability, security, and performance concerns. They will build and lead application delivery teams that integrates technology that drives value through transformational thinking and purpose-driven solutions.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

* Be a champion for and drive work through an Agile (SCRUM) methodology including estimations, daily standups, sprint planning, implementation tracking, demos, and retrospectives. Advocate and drive clear timelines, resource, and budget management

* Develop relevant metrics for application development and use these metrics as basis for communication and continuous improvement. Meet and exceed agreed upon KPIs relative to performance of applications prioritizing core/market standards

* Drive rigorous and regular product releases across the software product

* Promote continuous integration, continuous deployment, and automated testing for quicker feedback and improved consistency to support achievement of KPIs

* Maintain effective processes and systems to ensure high service availability

* Participate and manage IT budget and project prioritization with business leaders to ensure system investments are aligned with business requirements to maximize return on investments

* Partners with functional teams and leaders (e.g., data and process engineers, field leadership, marketing, finance, HR, etc.) to identify innovative solutions and create new applications that deliver value on the brand strategy

* Recommend and implement best practices, standards, and procedures including quality and delivery methodologies

* Promote the value of lean process in an effective development organization. Bridge the gap between architect vision and developer implementation

* Moderate technical debates and serve as decision maker all while balancing technical purity with speed to market. This includes removing developer impediments

* Drive negotiations with multiple business stakeholders, creating a reputation for excellent customer service

* Contribute new ideas to the business roadmap based on experience and continued awareness of relevant industry trends

* Partner with and manage third party vendors for projects and managed services to include evaluation of skillsets to perform required services

* Create and help govern Master Data Management standards

* Implement project management methodologies including defined business requirements to reduce confusion and impact to timeframe and deliverables. Develop and maintain key project management deliverables (project development, refinement, and implementation phases), including detailed project schedules, status reports, Steering Committee and Project Team presentations, and a communication strategy.

* Lead and develop direct report team in an authentic and inspiring way. Set clear direction and effectively coach for performance. Focus on growing the technical skillset of the development team by creating individual development plans.

* Ensure a strong customer service focus and connect business value with solutions

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:**

* Experienced with development methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum, Agile, Waterfall

* Experience performing business process improvements and implementations using LEAN principles

* Experience implementing or integrating with best-in-class HR systems, Warehouse Management Systems, Payroll and Finance systems

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Core Technologies (up to current version),

* Knowledge and experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft

* A thorough and demonstrable understanding of the latest software development frameworks, packages, patterns, and environments

* Strong business maturity, professionalism, interpersonal, management leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

* Knowledgeable and experienced reconciling/overseeing multiple simultaneous projects/tasks

* Comfort level with ambiguity, flexible in approach, and capable of bringing definition and clarity to business problems where it may not exist

* Skilled in managing and identifying conflict or resistance when it may be a hurdle to success.

* Capable of identifying barriers to action or agreement

* Strong and effective relationship building skills; able to remain neutral when appropriate but also able to leverage strong relationships to achieve business results. Experienced and skilled in effectively influencing people at all levels of an organization particularly when resistance exists

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities

**EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:**

* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field or equivalent experience required

* 7+ years of overall experience in Software Development or related field

* Previous experience implementing and managing Agile development teams

* Previous experience implementing continuous integration and/or continuous delivery

* Experience with LEAN principles

* Proven ability to manage people, projects, budgets, administrative tasks, and cost

* PMP a plus

* Multi-tenant retail experience a plus

* Weekend and evening on-call
