Essential Duties And Responsibilities Collaborate with the Manager to develop design concepts and standards, coordinate with governmental agencies, and serve as a design resource for team members. Provide guidance and coaching to junior team members, contributing to their professional growth. Prepare cost estimates, develop schedules, and coordinate the work of the design team under the direction of the Manager. Generate technical reports and calculations (hydrology, hydraulics, sewer capacity, earthwork, water demand, etc.). Ensure the work/design meets high-quality standards, is cost-effective, and aligns with agency standards. Perform complex design tasks and address major design challenges. Supervise Interns, Associate Engineers, Designers, and Engineers, offering assistance to maintain project schedules. Coordinate staffing needs with the Manager. Act as a design resource and leader for the team in the Manager's absence. Assist the Manager with proposal, schedule, and "extras" preparation. Initiate, implement, and promote new ideas and procedures. Provide surveyors with staking plans and assist in resolving construction discrepancies. Offer construction support and develop responses to RFIs. Provide complete information and criteria to subordinate team members for the completion of work. Provide training opportunities contributing to team members' professional development. Determine plan or report formats and complete the necessary documentation for the design package. Assist the Manager in processing plans for approval. Uphold punctuality and regular attendance. Minimum Qualifications Supervisory Responsibilities: Train and coach junior members of the team. Qualifications Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering or equivalent discipline from a four-year college or university. Four years of civil engineering design experience or equivalent education and experience. Minimum three years independently solving complex engineering problems within land development. EIT certification is required. PE license or commitment to obtaining PE license within two years of hire/promotion is required. Well-developed problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and team-building skills. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required. Physical Demands The physical demands include sitting, using hands, reaching, occasional standing, walking, and talking. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required. Work Environment The work environment includes occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually quiet.
