How you'll make an impact
* The primary focus is to manage a production team in the underwriting, management, and selling of products offered by binding and brokerage carriers with emphasis on writing new business.* This individual will have production goals assigned and is measured on new business goal attainment.* Manages a team of sales and underwriting support staff responsible for processing the new business production of the incumbent.* Directs support staff in the underwriting of individual insurance applications to cover property and casualty with guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.* Directs support team on whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property's value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.* Has frequent contact with field to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.* Develops relationships with contracted brokers.* Works under limited supervision. Orients, trains, assigns and checks the work of lower level reports.
About You
* Required: Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and Microsoft Office.* Preferred: Prior experience managing support staff preferred.* Assignments are broad in nature and usually require originality and ingenuity.
