Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Underwriter to join our team at AmWINS Group. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for evaluating the exposure characteristics of transportation accounts, underwriting on behalf of multiple insurance carriers, and making determinations on the most appropriate carrier placement based on risk detail, carrier guidelines, and market conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the exposure characteristics of transportation accounts and make recommendations for underwriting and carrier placement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with retail and carrier partners through consistent and ongoing engagement, communication, and negotiation.
  • Source, underwrite, and quote transportation business within specific insurance carrier guidelines.
  • Market new and/or renewal transportation accounts to determine the most appropriate terms for the insured and retail agent.
  • Communicate new products, ideas, and services to producers and other coworkers.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of transportation underwriting experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Strong commitment to exceptional service and response time.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy in all aspects of the role.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and related products with the willingness and ability to learn new systems.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to make real-time decisions.
  • Willingness and ability to participate and contribute to a team that is fast-paced and collaborative in nature.
